Creation Care

We pray for all organisms that provide oxygen to breathe in our parish.

This is a photograph of a phytoplankton taken from Henderson Inlet called Peridinium. Peri and his relatives are responsible for producing between 50% and 80% of all the oxygen on earth. These organisms need the Carbon Dioxide we produce to live so their existence is interdependent with ours. The problem is that excessive amounts of Carbon Dioxide are making the oceans acidic and depriving these oxygen producers of the iron and calcium they need to survive.
