Volunteer Gardeners Wanted

Want to periodically help keep our church landscape looking tidy? No experience necessary. Many hands make for light work.
Last fall, SBEC learned that our landscape contractor violated the contract terms and we had to terminate the contract. This year, rather than seeking a new contractor, we want to experiment with offering an opportunity for our own “flock” to tend to our own grounds.
In between scheduled Parish clean-up days, the commitment would entail a flexible hour or two weekly to peruse the grounds, remove a few weeds, deadhead spent flowers, or trim a bush or some invading ground cover. The focus would be on small gardening tasks. For some, the commitment might be an opportunity to engage with our grandchildren outdoors.
Last year, SBEC paid over $3,000 for our landscape service provider. Perhaps we can be better stewards of the landscape. So, if you can commit to this Parish ministry of landscape maintenance, please connect with our Sexton Jim Lochner at SBECSexton@gmail.com, or call the church office.
