The cornerstones of our faith are scripture, tradition, and reason.

Thank you for choosing St. Benedict's, we serve the Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater communities. We welcome you!

What to expect when you come to worship

Worship - Episcopal worship is "liturgical" meaning that the congregation plays a important role in their participation in word, music, and ceremonial.  We are part of the Anglican tradition and take pride in our liturgy and music that we share with Churches worldwide.  Most worship services include Holy Communion as the principal act of Christian worship.  We use the Episcopal Church Book of Common Prayer 1979 as the basis for all worship.

Music - The music you hear in our church was not written for us. It was written for God. The music is from the 1982 hymnal or from a more contemporary Gather Hymnal. We sing many parts of the service, please join in.

Dress- There is no dress code. You'll see men wearing everything from jeans and T-shirts to three-piece suits, and women in dresses or denim skirts, jeans and capris. Dress however you feel comfortable in the presence of God.

Children- Children are always welcome in worship. We provide a well-staffed nursery beginning at 10:oo a.m. for infants through age 5. Sunday School meets from Fall through Spring and spontaneous summer programs are offered and announced on our website and the weekly Benedictions publication as they occur.

Help-  The Ushers and Greeters are always available to answer questions and provide assistance.

Special Needs-  Our facilities are fully wheelchair accessible and we have large-print Books of Common Prayer. (If you would like to use one during a service, ask an usher.) We also have gluten-free bread at the communion altar, just ask when you take communion.

Coffee Hour- Sunday worship is regularly followed by fellowship in our Parish Hall, offering an opportunity to greet each other and enjoy refreshments offered by Coffee Hour teams that are committed to a warm welcome to all. Different holidays are recognized in special ways during coffee hours, all are invited to join the fun.

PUBLIC WORSHIP DURING COVID-19- As COVID continues to be a concern in our community, masks are offered at the entrance of the church and as you enter the nave. Their use is optional, for your protection, and those around you.
