Our Special Communion Bread

Following an ancient tradition, congregations of the Episcopal Church use bread made from wheat and wine made from grapes. During Lent we used wafers to maintain the simplicity of the Lenten season and we didn’t want our bread bakers to work during this time of prayer and meditation. This Palm Sunday was the 1st service with homemade comunion bread. We are blessed to have 3 bakers; Helen Johnston, Lisa Metzler, and Spencer Daniels, who make this special bread for us.

Seeking Support for Nursery Care

We again must reach out for additional help in the Nursery.  It is the policy of the Diocese that all areas of children’s ministry that two adults be present.
St. Benedict’s adopted this policy for ourselves with the strong belief that we give our children and youth our best attention by adhering to this for the safety and care of children as well as our care-givers.
This position can be paid or volunteer.  Please speak to Rev. Beth for further details and any questions you may have.
We welcome multiple interested persons to assist in the scheduling that will determine if most would only wish to help on occasional Sundays or those who would be interested in more often.
Your kind consideration is very helpful.

Fill The Cup

Our neighbors experiencing homelessness are anticipating a rough winter. Supplies are needed at shelters for those who need a place to get out of the elements, and St. Benedict now has a way to assist.
Please fill our giant coffee cup with:

  • Coffee

  • Tea bags (no loose tea, please)

  • Hot chocolate mix

  • Creamer

  • Sugar

  • Non-sugar sweetener

Every two weeks, donations will be blessed at the altar and then picked up and delivered to service providers. All you have to do is pick up a few items, bring them to the church, and put them in the cup which you will find by the Food Bank wagon in the front hall.
So simple, and so needed.

It is missing some photos, which we are working on at this time.
If you would like to receive an electronic copy of this directory please let me know.  I would appreciate anybody who is interested to go over it, check your listing for accuracy, and let me know of any additions, deletions, or corrections that are needed!
Thank you so much!

Creation Cares Ministry Update

—Mindy Chambers

We have finalized the schedule for our Creation Care Ministry work with agrarian expert Brian Sellers Peterson.
We will meet for our orientation to our work on December 10, take a break on December 24 and 31, and then meet January 7, January 21, February 4, February 25 and March 10. Each session will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. via Zoom (we will have a set up at the church or you can Zoom from home).
This work is very important to the future of our Parish, and will help inform how we will put our congregational development grant from the Diocese to work for the broadest benefit. We hope you will join us. Please see Mindy Chambers or the Rev. Beth if you have questions and/or want to sign up!

Masks Available in Foyer

—Terryl Graham

As three new COVID-19 variants are spreading across the country, many people are wondering: Are masks coming back?

"People 65-plus and people who are immunocompromised should strongly consider masking during flu, RSV, COVID season while in indoor public spaces," said Dr. Céline Gounder, a CBS News medical contributor and editor-at-large for public health at KFF Health News. "And for everyone else — it all depends on what their risk tolerance is."

The "weather report analogy" - "What's the weather out today? If it's raining, you will probably want to bring an umbrella. If you are in an area where there is an uptick in airborne respiratory infections like COVID, flu or RSV you may want to take extra precautions, such as wearing a high-quality mask in indoor public spaces,"

You will find a basket of masks available to you just to your left as you enter the front doors.
